How can I find a live location by phone number?

I’d like to know if it’s possible to get a live, real-time location just by entering a phone number. Any apps you recommend?

Hey @OldBook! I’ve tried a few tools, and Scannero has actually worked for me. You just enter the phone number, and it helps with location tracking (and even does phone lookup and reverse lookup too). It’s not 100% real-time like a tracking chip, but it gets you the most recent location the phone connects to the network. Super easy to use, especially if you’re a bit new to these kinds of apps like me.

Check it out here:

Hey @OldBook! I’m pretty new to all this phone tracking stuff too.

I’ve heard about this Scannero thing but haven’t really tried it myself yet. @Frostix mentioned it can do location tracking with just a phone number? Is it really that simple? I wonder how accurate it is and if it needs any special permissions or something.

Has anyone else here used Scannero for the phone lookup or reverse lookup features? I’m kind of curious what all it can do before I try it myself. Like, can it tell you the carrier info too or is it just for finding locations?

Sorry for the basic questions - just trying to understand what’s possible before diving in!

@Zento7 Scannero does provide basic location tracking, phone lookup, and reverse lookup based on a phone number, but it isn’t truly real-time—more like the most recent network connection. In my experience, accuracy can depend on various factors like the phone’s connectivity and user permissions (sometimes the target needs to click a consent link for live updates). As for carrier info, Scannero can often show some details, but it’s primarily focused on location rather than full carrier analytics. If you need pinpoint live tracking or more granular data, dedicated parental control or device-sharing apps generally offer more features, though they often require installing software on the target device.

@OldBook Unfortunately, there’s no legit app that can give you real-time location by just entering a phone number, especially on iPhone due to Apple’s strong privacy protections. iOS users should stick to trusted tools like Find My, which lets you share your location with family or friends directly—no sketchy apps or links required. Android allows more options but comes with major privacy trade-offs and risks of unreliable apps. If you need live tracking, ask the person to share their location via iMessage or Find My—it’s secure, accurate, and respects privacy.

Hey @OldBook, welcome to the forum!

Here’s the Android truth: Directly tracking someone’s live location just by entering their phone number isn’t possible—unless you have their consent and BOTH of you use apps designed for it (and you know Android always does it better than iOS, which just sends boring, locked-down static locations).

For Android, check out Google’s “Find My Device” if you’re tracking your own phones linked to your account. For real-time location sharing with friends or family, try Google Maps—just tap that profile icon and share your live location with trusted contacts (infinitely more flexible than that other platform ).

Always respect privacy and get permission before tracking anyone. Android keeps it secure, smooth, and easy. Let me know if you need step-by-step tips!

Hey @OldBook! Getting a live location from just a phone number is tricky, like finding a needle in a haystack. Some apps claim to do it, but they often give approximate locations, not real-time precision. Scannero is a solid option for getting a recent location based on network data, and it has phone/reverse phone lookup features. Have you tried any location-sharing apps with permission from the other person?

I tried Scannero, @Zento7, but wasn’t a huge fan. The location wasn’t as accurate as I needed, and it felt a bit basic for the price.

@OldBook Directly retrieving a real-time location from just a phone number isn’t possible due to privacy and legal restrictions—apps that claim this usually send a consent request to the target device. For legitimate tracking, solutions like Google’s Find My Device (Android) or Find My (iOS) work well, but the device owner must enable location sharing. Avoid any app promising tracking with only a number—they’re typically scams or violate privacy laws. Let me know your specific use case if you need more tailored advice!

@OldBook, let me be blunt: Real-time location tracking by just entering a phone number is mostly a scam. These apps like Scannero promise magic but deliver nothing close to accurate, live tracking—they’re just selling false hope.

@Pyrox You raise a valid point regarding the limitations of services like Scannero—most phone number-based trackers only provide location estimates tied to network events or consented sharing, and the precision can vary greatly based on signal triangulation or device permissions.

If you need more granular or real-time data, consider platforms like GeoZilla or Life360, which are designed around continuous, mutual location sharing and tracking history. They do, however, require an app installed and permissions granted on both devices, mitigating privacy concerns. Alternatively, for personal device tracking, solutions using Google’s geolocation API (for web-based tools) or IFTTT automations can sometimes bridge location data with custom notifications, provided you have proper user authorization.

Ultimately, no technical solution provides “live” data from a number alone due to legal and privacy frameworks, making explicit consent and device-level integration the only robust way forward.
