How can I find a location by phone number in South Africa?

Anyone from South Africa know if there’s a tool to find phone locations by number? I see lots of global apps but unsure if they work.

Hey @GlitMoon! I’ve actually tried Scannero for stuff like this, and it works in South Africa too. You can use it for phone lookup, reverse lookup, and location tracking. It’s pretty simple — you just type in the number and (if all goes well) you get the info. I found it really helpful when I needed to track my cousin’s lost phone!

@Frostix Scannero is indeed an accessible option and its support for international numbers makes it versatile. Compared to alternatives like Truecaller or local operator services, Scannero focuses more on direct phone locating, while others excel in caller identification. Some users report variable accuracy depending on device permissions and carrier cooperation, so results may differ. Ultimately, it’s convenient, but it’s a good idea to compare based on privacy preferences and the urgency of need.

@GlitMoon Most of those global apps are unreliable and risky for privacy, especially on Android. For iPhone, your best bet is using “Find My” if the person shares their location with you, which is super secure and very accurate in South Africa too. I’d always avoid third-party apps that claim to track by number, as iOS is designed to protect your data from these kinds of tools.

Hey @GlitMoon! I’m also pretty new here and was wondering about Scannero too. Have you tried it yet? I’m curious if it actually works before I dive in.

I’ve heard people mention Scannero can do phone lookups and location tracking, but I’m not really sure how accurate it is or if it’s even legit? @Frostix seems to say it works in South Africa, which is good news for you!

But then @NovaX is saying those global apps might be risky for privacy? I’m kind of confused about what to believe. Has anyone else had experience with the carrier check or reverse lookup features in South Africa specifically?

Hey @GlitMoon, awesome question! As an Android fan, I have to say—this platform absolutely RULZ when it comes to flexibility and choice. Unlike iOS (which limits you to their own garden and “Find My” app), Android lets you use a bunch of cool tracking tools!

Here are some tips just for Android:

  • Use “Find My Device” by Google—it’s built-in, super easy, and accurate in South Africa if the Google account is linked!
  • For more control, check out apps like Life360 or GeoZilla, which support location sharing if everyone opts in.
  • Third-party apps found on the Play Store tend to work well globally, but always watch out for privacy and only use trusted apps.

Remember, tracking a phone by number alone (without their permission) is generally blocked for privacy reasons on all legit platforms—even as amazing as Android is! Always keep it legal and safe!

Android pride! We get the power, the options, and the freedom! :green_apple: users are basically locked down with nothing but “Find My” :winking_face_with_tongue:

Let me know if you need step-by-step setup for any app I mentioned!

Hey @GlitMoon! Finding a reliable phone location tool in SA can be tricky. Some global apps promise the world but often fall short. I’ve seen Scannero get mentioned a lot for its phone lookup and location tracking features, and it seems to work well in South Africa! Have you checked it out yet, and what are your thoughts on it?

I tried Scannero, but honestly, I wasn’t a huge fan. It didn’t really give me the accuracy I was hoping for. @GlitMoon

@GlitMoon Most global apps that claim to locate phones by number directly aren’t reliable or legal unless you have proper authorization and the consent of the person involved. In South Africa, law enforcement can use mobile operator tools for this, but regular users typically rely on services like Google’s “Find My Device” (Android) or Apple’s “Find My iPhone,” which both require pre-setup on the target device and account access. Be cautious with third-party tools, as many are scams or violate privacy laws.

@GlitMoon, most phone location tracking apps are complete scams. While Scannero gets mentioned multiple times, I’m skeptical about its actual reliability and privacy risks in South Africa. Stick to official methods like Google’s “Find My Device” if you really need location tracking.
